HIGHWAY 409
This is where it all began. Almost without warning the air waves were rockin' with Bill Haley and The Comets, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Ricky Nelson, Eddie Cochrane, Fats Domino, Cliff Richard and the Shadows, The Beach Boys .... and everyone was dancing. When that music came on, you just had to move to the beat.
Highway 409 takes you there, sometimes just the way they played it back then, and sometimes with their own modern spin on things.
These five professional musicians have been delighting audiences for many years as members of some of the best bands in south-east Queensland. In early 2008, the band came together under the "409" banner and their individual and collective talents flourished.
It's hard to stay in your seat when the late `50s and early `60s grooves of Great Balls of Fire or Summertime Blues or Jailhouse Rock are filling the room. For the 'swingers', you'll delight to the easy rhythms of songs like Flip, Flop and Fly and Just a Gigolo. If you've got your dancing shoes on, Highway 409 will get you moving.
The band Highway 409 is comprised of Hans (lead vocals and guitar), Terry Aspinall (bass and vocals), Greg Marsh (lead guitar, synth and vocals), Norm Hunter (keyboards) and Gary Ebdon (drums).
All band members are experienced musicians in a variety of styles, but it's their passion for the glory days of rock 'n' roll that brings them together as Highway 409.
To quote from their repertoire: when the band plays that Old Time Rock 'n' Roll, they'll have you Rockin' All Over The World. You'll want to put on your Blue Suede Shoes and head down Route 66. In fact, by the time they've finished, we guarantee that you'll be All Shook Up!
